The day
Most foraging tours are a two-hour identification walk. This is a full day: a morning moving slowly through coastal forest learning what is edible, what is not, and how to tell the difference — then a fire-cooked lunch built around the morning's gathering by someone who cooks professionally.
Under ninety minutes from downtown Vancouver, on wet coastal ground that produces well through the autumn.
What we look for
Autumn — Matsutake (pine mushroom), Pacific golden chanterelles, winter chanterelles, hedgehog mushrooms and lobster mushrooms.
Late summer into autumn — King boletes and cauliflower mushrooms.
Spring — Morels, and the early greens that come with them.
What we find is what we cook. Some days that is a full basket and some days it is a handful and a good lesson, which is how foraging works.
We are explicit about where harvesting is permitted. Picking is not legal everywhere in British Columbia — not in provincial parks, on reserve land, or on private property without permission — and knowing the difference is part of the day.

02 • How the day comes together
The shape of it.
A guide, not a schedule. Timing flexes to conditions, the group, and what the day actually gives us.
Morning
7:30am Vancouver pickup or 8:30am Squamish meet. Three to four hours gathering.
Midday
Fire-cooked lunch built around the morning's finds.
Afternoon
A second walk, or a seated session pairing what you found with what is in the glass.
Evening
Back in Vancouver by 5 or 6pm.
Pairs naturally with a Squamish fly fishing day. Book both and we will build them as one programme.
