The day
Thirty minutes north of Whistler the water changes character — bigger rivers, deeper lakes, far fewer people. This is the day with the widest range of technique on offer: fly fishing the Lillooet watershed, spin casting, and deep-water trolling for big bull trout and heavy rainbows.
The water
Lillooet River — Wild rainbow population. Resident rainbow trout, coastal cutthroat, bull trout and Dolly Varden, with anadromous fish in the accessible lower reaches.
Birkenhead River — Wild rainbow population within the Lillooet watershed. Resident rainbow, bull trout, Dolly Varden and coastal cutthroat.
Ryan River — Rainbow trout and char in the accessible lower reaches. The upper river is fishless above the natural barriers, which is worth knowing before you walk it.
Lake fishing — Deep-water trolling for bull trout and rainbows. Suits anyone who would rather sit in a boat and watch the mountains than stand in current, and it is where the largest fish of the season usually come from.
Barbless throughout, and we encourage thoughtful conservation.
